Six Weeks Pregnant

19 April 2013

Today I am about six weeks pregnant. We aren’t exactly sure yet when my due date is, but we should know by my next appointment, which is in less than a week. Right now we just know it’s sometime in December. Yesterday was the day the doctor finally gave me a good report about you. Originally we thought this pregnancy was ectopic and then we thought it was heterotopic, but yesterday the doctor said that you looked perfect and there was no longer any fear of danger. Although there was something in my tube, it wasn’t anything that posed a threat to you!

We did an ultrasound yesterday and I could tell that you have grown already! The first time we saw you on the screen you were the tiniest dot that the doctor almost didn’t see. Last time you were easier to find. And today you were so much bigger! You weren’t just a dot anymore; you looked like a circle. The doctor showed me a little blinking spot in the middle of that precious circle - it was your beating heart! My heart is so happy to know that you are alive and doing well!

In this ultrasound photo, you can see the gestational sac with the yolk sac inside.

We are planning to go to Branson with your Nana, Grandpa, and Great Aunt Carole today and tomorrow. I absolutely LOVE roller coasters, but since I’m carrying you, I’m not allowed to ride  them. I thought I might have to go ahead and tell everyone about you, but I think I have come up with a good story that they might believe so I can keep you a secret just a little bit longer. There is a special reason why I want to wait. It’s a good one.

You see, yesterday, I found out that Aunt Jessica is expecting a baby too! I sent her an email to tell her about you and she called me right away to tell me her news. The best part is that you and her baby are almost the exact same age! I cried tears of joy when she told me about your little cousin. We are both so excited to enjoy being pregnant together! But since she is not ready to tell her secret to anyone, we have decided to wait and tell everyone together. It’s going to be the best surprise ever! I can’t wait!

I love you, sweet baby. I pray for you a million times a day. And I thank God for you. You are very special and I believe God has something big in store for you!
